Quality Components for Quality Well Systems

Amber Water Pros

Well systems consist of several key components that work together to extract water from the ground and send it to your household. For proper functionality, the equipment should be of high quality and carefully installed.

After drilling the hole for your new well, we begin carefully installing each unit:

  • Well casing and cap: The well casing is a sturdy enclosure that houses the well pump and keeps the hole from collapsing. The cap keeps out insects, dirt, rainwater, and other external contaminants.
  • Well screen: The well screen is installed at the bottom of the well, attached to the casing. This allows water to flow into the well while preventing sand and sediment from entering.
  • Submersible pump: Located deep inside the well, the submersible pump is responsible for drawing water up from the ground and pushing it into the home.
  • Pressure tank: The pressure tank stores and distributes excess water while maintaining consistent water pressure throughout your plumbing system.
  • Pitless adapter: The pitless adapter is a specialized fitting that connects the water line to your home’s plumbing. Its design and placement below the frost line prevent freezing and allow for a sanitary, leak-proof connection.
  • Wellhead: The wellhead is the visible part of the well, finished with a secure cap. To protect your water supply, the wellhead should extend at least 12 inches aboveground, which keeps it safe from surface runoff and contamination.

Amber Water Pros installs all key parts of a well system during professional well installation. We are one of the few companies that also manufactures many of the elements needed for installation. For the equipment we do not produce ourselves, we work exclusively with trusted brands known for their durability and performance.

We Provide WELLCHECK™ Testing With EVERY New Residential Well!

The safety of your water is extremely important! That is why we include WELLCHECK Water Testing with every new residential water well that we drill. This extensive ISO 17025 Certified Water Testing provides a detailed laboratory report on your water quality.

Well Installation Process

After the well is drilled, a steel or PVC casing pipe is inserted into the borehole. This casing lines the well to prevent the walls from collapsing and protects the water supply from surface contaminants. It is centered and set just above the water-bearing aquifer. It is then sealed at the top with a well cap to prevent debris and animals from entering.

A well screen will be attached to the bottom of the casing inside the aquifer zone. The screen acts as a filter, allowing sand, sediment, and other particles to pass while preventing water from flowing into the well. The screen’s material and slot size are based on your aquifer’s specific characteristics for the best results.

The annular space is the vacant space between the casing and the drilled hole wall. To seal the well, it is filled with grout, typically cement or bentonite. This prevents surface water or contaminants from entering the water supply along the casing and is essential for maintaining water safety.

To improve water flow and clarity, we will use air and water jets to remove fine sediments and drilling debris from the water-bearing zone. This cleaning process clears the area around the screen and casing, preparing the well for use.

A submersible pump is lowered into the well and submerged below the water level. Above ground, a pressure tank and pressure switch are installed to regulate water pressure and control pump operation. Pitless adapters and check valves are installed to connect the well to your plumbing system on a case-by-case basis.

The entire system undergoes thorough testing to confirm proper pump performance and consistent water pressure. Water samples are collected and analyzed to meet safety standards. The Amber Water Pros includes a free WELLCHECK 30-point water test for all new well installations. Any necessary adjustments or troubleshooting are completed before the project is finalized.

Well Installation FAQs

A well casing is lowered into the drilled borehole to line the well and prevent collapse. It is carefully centered and sealed at the top with a cap to protect the water supply from contaminants.

A well is made up of the casing and cap, well screen, submersible pump, pressure tank, pitless adapter, and wellhead. Each part plays a role in protecting, filtering, pumping, and delivering clean water to your home.

A well casing generally extends 25 feet below the ground’s surface and should be under the well’s aquifer. The exact depth depends on local regulations, water table levels, and the type of well.

Steel and PVC are the most common materials for well casing. Both provide strength and durability, though PVC is often preferred for its corrosion resistance and ease of installation.

Amber Water Pros manufactures many well components in-house and also offers high-quality brands for parts we do not make. We only partner with the best equipment brands because our commitment to excellent service demands nothing less.
